About

An independent tabletop studio with roots in the northern woods.

Based in the heart of the Baltic States, we aim to show you what lies in the bog through whimsy, fantasy and lore in the form of cards, dice and a good time at the table!

Misty northern forest at the edge of a lake

The name

Medeina is a forest figure from Baltic folklore. She was revered as a keeper of the woods and animals. Though she was depicted as a huntress, her aspiration was never to aid the hunters, she was said to protect the woods and creatures within.

The name is a nod to where some of our stories come from. The forests, bogs and half-remembered tales of Northern Europe run quietly through our work with hints, adaptations and inspiration. Our goal is not to provide realistic depictions, but to express the feeling which these stories envelop, the mystery and beauty that surrounds them, through stories and adventures of our own.

Our currently in-development first game, Pelt & Plunder, is the first of hopefully many installments in this adapted universe. It features a band of mustelid-species anthropomorphic heroes called Hunters who brave the unknown dangers that lie outside their safe hearth. It currently is in the private play-testing stage, however, public playtests will soon open.

What we care about

  1. 01

    Made independently

We do not wish to answer to shareholders. What we do is ours.

  2. 02

    Whimsical worlds

Strange, warm places with teeth and claws. Surrounded by mystery, magic, rituals and curses.

  3. 03

    Rooted in folklore

Forest spirits, bog lights and barrow-dwellers. These are parts of our stories retold in a different, whimsical fantasy light.

  4. 04

    Mechanics with a point

Every rule earns its place in the games we make. It will either make the player happy or determined to succeed. Either way, it earns its keep.

  5. 05

    Memorable evenings

The real product is the story your group tells after a cozy night of cards, tea or coffee and snacks.
